Graece Α῎κανθα Βασιλικὴ, ut eam Theophrastus vocat, Regia dicitur Plinio, cui illa cum Spina Babylonica, de qua supra dictum, eadem est, l. 13. c. 24. Non omittendum est, et quod Babylone seritur in spinis, quoniam non alibi vivit, sicut et viscum in arboribus. Sed illud in Spina tantum, quae Regia vocatur etc. Nempe Plinium movit, quod Attici coeterique olim Graeci Βασιλικὸν de Regibus tantum Persiae dicerent. Sed cum longe ante Plinii aetatem Βασιλικὸν et Βασιλεῖς de Regibus Aegypti etaiam Graeci propriê usurpârint, non minus Spina Aegyptia hôc nomine venire posset. Certe Theophrastus, qui mentionem Basilicae Spinae facit, de Causis l. 1. c. 10. Spinam Babylonicam ab ea distinguit, uti docet Salmas. ad Solin. p. 1290.
